Kerteminde Garden by the Sea - North
A peninsula; a world of its own
With its idyllic villages, large manor houses, churches and beautiful landscapes, Garden North, the peninsula of Hindholm, is a world of its own.
The peninsula is a great place for invigorating bike rides down narrow lanes weaving through ancient villages and a hilly green landscape. The cycling path from Sommerbyen, the summerhouse area in Kerteminde, follows the old railway tracks towards the village of Taarup and onwards to the villages of Mesinge, Dalby and, finally, Martofte.
Hindsholm’s long coastline invites to both relaxation and play. There are wonderful child-friendly bathing beaches, lots of places to explore and, at the northernmost point, you will find the beautiful Fyns Hoved, its steep cliffs and rocky shores jutting majestically out into the Great Belt, the Kattegat and Odense Fjord inlet. Hindsholm’s coasts also offer unique opportunities for anglers, who can find the perfect fishing spot regardless of wind and weather.
The local eateries fully live up to the idyllic surroundings. In Måle, you will find, among other attractions, a small local bakery that also serves food, as well as a unique smokehouse with its own shop that produces and sells its own products and all sorts of exquisite delicacies. The town of Mesinge has a cosy restaurant located in an old tithe barn.
In addition to eateries, you will find plenty of farm shops and roadside stalls around Hindsholm offering everything from fruit and vegetables to meat, cider and other local delicacies.
